TIFF 2024: Day One

And so it begins ...

TIFF 2024: Day One

If all goes to plan, I’ll be arriving in Toronto shortly after this publishes at 8am. From there it’s the hotel, checking luggage under the assumption the room isn’t ready, hitting the press office for my badge, and getting in line for film #1.

Welcome to TIFF Year Eighteen.

There won’t be any reviews today as none of the screeners I received bowed on Day One yesterday. That’s not too surprising since Thursday’s public screenings don’t generally start until later in the afternoon—meaning there aren’t as many titles to choose from as other days. And, since it’s opening night, the ones that are playing aren’t generally the titles with screeners available.

That doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy, though. I have one short film and eighteen feature film reviews filed and ready to go in the coming days. So, keep coming back to the festival tab (or TIFF filter) each morning for a new dispatch of the previous day’s reviews. I’ll be finishing up my thoughts on the eleven films I’m watching while here in Toronto and then go back to the screener pile once I return home.
